While we eagerly await the Porsche Taycan to test drive, the company has gone and added a fourth variant to its first all-electric sports saloon model. The new model lines up with the Turbo S, Turbo and 4S, and features rear-wheel drive and comes with two battery sizes. Turns out the Taycan is quite popular, as Porsche have delivered a little more than 20,000 Taycans in 2020.
Choice of two batteries
The standard is the Performance Battery that has a total capacity of 79.2 kWh and delivers a range of 431 kilometers. You can opt for the Performance Battery Plus which gives you an extended range of 484 kilometers courtesy of 93.4 kWh.
Both battery variants propel the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, and the top speed is limited at 230 km/h. Both batteries can be charged from five to 80 percent (SoC) in around 22 minutes – you can add 100 kilometers in around five minutes.
Taycan comes with same witty performance
The new entry-level Taycan pretty much offers the same ‘experience’ as the other variants, impressive acceleration, sports car type of power and continuously available power.
In addition to the permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle, the drive architecture also includes a two-speed transmission. Just as with its siblings in the model range, its highlights include intelligent charging management as well as exemplary aerodynamics.
Purist exterior design with Porsche DNA
Just to recap, the Porsche Taycan naturally oozes Porsche design DNA – you’ll know it is a Porsche from first glimpse. Distinguishing features of the Taycan within its model family include aerodynamically optimized 19-inch Taycan Aero wheels and black anodized brake calipers. The front apron, side sills and rear diffuser in black are the same as those on the Taycan 4S. LED headlights are fitted as standard.
Unique interior design
As standard, the Taycan comes with a partial leather interior as well as front comfort seats with eight-way electrical adjustment. The car features two luggage compartments: 84 liters at the front, and up to 407 liters at the rear. The Taycan is also the first Porsche model available with an entirely leather-free interior. Interiors made from innovative recycled materials underscore the sustainable concept of the electric sports car.
We’ll update the EV Buyer Guide soon when we learn more about the Taycan price and specs.
