Scorching Prices for New 2021 Tesla Model S and X

Model S Hero Shot

Tesla has recently revealed changes to its Model line-up. Just like that, the Tesla Model S and Model X get a new interior, amazing range and power, and the Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive Plaid – both available in the UAE and Jordan markets.

Tesla Model S

This is the first major redesign of the Model S since 2012, and what has changed are a refreshed exterior (no major changes), a more simplified interior (very sleek), and more powerful powertrains which means longer range and quicker acceleration.

The interior is where the most noticeable changes have been implemented. Tesla has turned the center console screen so it is landscaped like in the Model 3 but with considerably less bezels. The steering wheel is similar to that was shown on the Roadster – a U-shaped butterfly wheel. An extra screen has been added behind the center console for the rear-seat passengers to enjoy. The Model S, still the only to have, retains the screen behind the steering wheel.

There are still three variants to choose from. They’ve replaced the Performance trim with Plaid and Plaid+, and the entry-level being the Long-Range.

The Long-Range offers 663km driving range, 250 km/h top speed, and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds – all courtesy of the dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain. The tri-motor Plaid will give you 628 km range, a top speed of 322 km/h, and 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds thanks to 1,020 HP. Plaid+ with 1,100+ HP gets you further, 837 km, and 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.1 seconds.

The pricing is even more insane than the performance. The Long-Range starts at AED 369,990 in the UAE, that is AED 47,000 more than it used to cost (even after Tesla dropped its prices a few months back on the S). It costs JOD 81,900 in Jordan, also JOD 7,910 more expensive than what it used to be.

Here’s the really insane part, and for those who really hate money… like just want to burn cash… The Tesla Model S Long-Range starts at an approximate $74,490. That means customers in the region are paying almost $26,900 more for than those in the United States of America. The difference in the Plaid is approximately $24,000 and Plaid+ is around $26,000. You see…. Stupidly insane… Ludicrous even!

The Model X

No changes to the Model X exterior. The interior is pretty much a replication of the interior featuring in the new Model S – New U-shaped steering wheel, new landscaped center console screen, and new rear screen. It still comes in two variants, Long-Range and Plaid (replacing the Performance trim).

The Long-Range offers 580 km of driving, a top speed of 250 km/h, and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The Plaid offers less range at 547 km, but a higher top speed of 262 km/h, and 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds.

The Model X Long-Range in the UAE used to be priced at AED 354,990, and now it is AED 45,000 more expensive costing you AED 399,990. The new Plaid is going for AED 499,990. Comparing that to the US, where the Long-Range costs $84,690 – you will pay $24,900 more in the UAE. The Plaid in the America starts at $114,690, making the UAE Model X Plaid $22,300 more expensive

No news on the Model Y yet

The Model Y is still not available for purchasing in the UAE. Also, both Model 3 and Model Y are yet to be available in Jordan, not sure what the wait is for, especially for the Model 3.
