The second model from GMC’s Hummer will be debut on April 3 at 2:00am UAE time. This will be the SUV version of the previously announced SuperTruck that blew our socks off. We doubt there will be super crazy updates to the Hummer EV SUV, and believe it will come with similar features to the SuperTruck like the removable roof panels, powertrain, and aesthetics as it will share the same platform.
All eyes will be on the interior, as it has a closed rear it will most surely have a 3rd-row option, making the EV SUV fit 8 people comfortably in. Another feature will be the spare tire mounted on the tailgate as you can see from the teaser photo.
No news on production of the Hummer EV SUV, and most are predicting that it will follow the supertrucks arrival by at least a year. I’m guessing that they’ve been working on this version for a while and will probably have it available at the same time.
The Hummer will be the first vehicle to be built on GM’s new electric battery platform, Ultium, offering power ranging from 50 to 200 kWh, allowing for a driving range up to “400 miles or more.” For trucks, the Ultium platform will include 800-volt battery packs and 350 kW fast-charging capability.
The Hummer was very popular back in the day here in the region, up until the company closed shop in 2010, due to petrol prices being extremely low – nobody cared about mileage nor the environment back then. But now, the company is being smart and capitalizing on the EV trend, and looking to make a name for itself in ESUVs, just like it did when it came to petrol guzzling SUVs – they even redesigned the logo to look like an electric plug. How amazing will it be if they made a retro looking all-electric H1?
